LT REACH DIRECTIVE
Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006
The European REACH directive, (Registration Evaluation Authorisation and restriction
of Chemicals) came into force on the 1st of June 2007. This directive covers all SVHC
(Substances of Very High Concern) chemicals, whether manufactured, imported,
used as intermediates or placed on the market, either on their own, in preparations
or in articles, unless covered by one of the exemptions provided for in the REACH
regulation.
REACH Objectives:
• To protect human health and the environment from the usage of hazardous
chemicals.
• To make the manufacturers and importers, who place SVHC chemicals on the
market understand and manage the risks associated with their use.
• To allow the unrestricted movement of substances within the EU.
• To encourage competitiveness and innovation within the EU chemicals industry.
Louth Transformer Company Limited, do not use or import any SVHC substances in
to the EU at a level of 1 tonne or more per annum, and therefore are exempt from
REACH registration.
