LT ECODESIGN INFORMATION
EU/548/2014
The EU Ecodesign directive 548/2014 requires all new transformers brought to the
market after 1st July 2015 to comply with strict new requirements regarding losses
in order to improve energy efficiency and reduce avoidable CO emissions as part of
2
the EU’s 20-20-20 program, which by 2020 aims to achieve:
• 20% reduction in CO emission levels compared to 1990.
2
• 20% of energy consumption coming from renewable energy sources.
• 20 increase in energy efficiency.
By 2020 it is hoped that energy savings of around 16TWh/year are achievable, as the
Ecodesign Regulation removes the worst performing transformers from the market
by:
• Reducing electrical losses in two phases in 2015 and 2021.
• Making indications of transformer performance more visible and clearly marked.
• Harmonising maximum loss levels across the EU.
All of our products are fully compliant with the Ecodesign regulation and losses are
clearly marked on the product where applicable. We have also published on the
following pages full information on losses for our range of ex-stock transformers.
